VILAS, Texas (CBSDT) — A Texas woman faces charges Monday after police say she tried to get a woman's prescription for Viagra pills online and was arrested by a police officer in the city.
The woman, who is being treated for a heart condition, was arrested at her home in Vilsack, on the South side of the Rio Grande Valley.
The arrest took place in the early morning hours of a pharmacy in the city's Dallas-Fort Worth market. She was described as in her late 30s or early 40s, weighed about 50 pounds and had a "fine complexion" that was "not too bright," according to the arrest report.
A pharmacist told CBSDT that the woman was not involved in the illegal sale of the pills. She was described as being in her early 30s, between the ages of 19 and 30, with no known allergies to either medication.
"Her doctor is very concerned about her health, because she is dealing with a very serious health issue," said the pharmacist.
The woman is facing three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and two misdemeanor charges of trafficking in controlled substances, according to a statement released by the woman's lawyer. She faces up to 10 years in prison for each of the three felonies.
The woman is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at a federal court in Dallas. At her arraignment Monday, the woman was scheduled to meet with federal authorities to discuss her case. She will have to wait at least four hours before being taken to the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in federal prison for each felony count.
